Final Reflection

1. Did you find that being part of the Hunter College early college program better prepared you for your future college career? How so?
I thought that this early college program has prepared me for my college future because it kind of shown me a different atmosphere than at the high school. Since there are more adults here, there can be a transformation from being a high school kid to a college adult.

2. What were some obstacles that you faced during the course of this year? How did you overcome them? Write about a moment of great success that you experienced this year. What happened?
I would say the main obstacle that I faced throughout the year was adjusting from a high school atmosphere to a college atmosphere. My great success that I experienced this year would probably be passing my Pre-Calculus class because it was one of my first college courses of the year and I got an A- in the class.

3.  Did you enjoy Fiction Writing this year?  What were some of the lessons that you learned this year that you would be able to bring into your writing in the future?

4. What Hunter College courses did you take this year? Which were your favorite ones and why?  If there was a course you took that you did not enjoy, what was it and why?
The college courses that I’ve taken this year were Pre-Calculus, Geography, Calculus, and Chemistry. Pre-Calculus was my favorite course because I felt that I was very successful in the class because I focused very much on the class. Geography wasn’t my favorite course because it was difficult to stay awake in the class and I honestly didn’t really learn much information, but I still passed though.

5. What do you still need to work on in order to be an even more successful college student? How do you plan on working on these skills?
Making more time for me to study has been a burden which has been a disadvantage for me to be a successful college student.

6. Where did you study on the
Hunter College campus this year? What facilities did you use at Hunter this year?
I’ve studied in some places on the campus such as the computer labs, the library, and the 8th floor terrace.

7. What have you learned about yourself by being a part of this early college program?
I have learned that it is less likely that I will quit doing anything, even if I don’t even want to do it.

8. Where will you be attending school in Fall 2010?
I will be attending
Hunter College in Fall 2011.

9. What are your personal goals for the future? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years? In 20 years?

Five years from now, I see myself finished with a bachelor’s degree, probably with music, and either going to graduate school or having a successful career, or both, if possible. In ten years, I see myself getting ready to settle down with a successful career. In twenty years, I’ll be rich with a big house with a family.

10. What advice do you have to give to future MHSHS students in order to help them prepare for this experience?
My advice to the future MHSHS students is to prepare for a change that might be beneficial to them if they choose to let it be. Also, life choices have to be made for yourself because nobody is going make them for you.

  1. Good reflection, Phillip. I certainly enjoyed having you this year, not only in fiction class, but also as part of the music team. You have contributed your gifts to this senior class and have left a legacy for the future.
